Hello, and thank you for visiting!
Let me just start by introducing myself! I'm Nikki and I run Bunitan Raina Photography. I created the name Bunitan Raina based on my heritage over on the islands of Guam. While learning about the culture there, I learned they have a unique language, Chamorro, and that is where my name comes from. It translates into "Beautiful Queen" in that language. I believe in high confidence and LOVE to bring that out in myself and others.
I'm a boy mom, wife, and fur baby mom to two beautiful dogs! One is a husky and one is a mix of Labrador and Catahoula. They both keep us on our feet at all times!
I have been doing photos for a few years now and I LOVE capturing everything beautiful to me. Being born and raised in Kansas, I was at and advantage with so many photo opportunities to capture including rivers, creek beds, the Flint Hills, etc. Now, I reside in the beautiful state of Minnesota, and there are equally just as many photo opportunities here!
My passion started when I was young with just a disposable camera back in the late 90s and early 2000s. I would take that and try getting photos of literally everything I could, which wasn't easy considering the camera quality.
After my son was born, I was gifted a small digital point and shoot camera to capture his every moment on. It never left my hand until it was accidentally dropped and the lens broke. I ended up putting the camera passion on the back burner for a long time, and as technology progressed, I figured out I only needed the phone camera, which was a new and exciting feature I just HAD to toy around with!
I didn't pursue my passion heavily until the last few years due to everyday mom life. I was also going to college for Early Childhood Education, Psychology, and Criminal Justice but still took a TON of photos with the phone camera in my free time. I FINALLY got my first DSLR camera- a Nikon D3500- for my birthday one year as a gift to myself. I had been using the stock lens for that until I'd saved enough money for another lens and I now shoot with both!
I'd say my most favorite photos to take are of nature and animals. I love the way the rain and rainstorms create the feel of the picture. It reminds me of my favorite season, and sitting on the porch drinking coffee with a good book. There's just nothing better!
My goal now is to travel with my photography career in the future. I would love to go to other countries and capture their beautiful landscapes and cultures in the future as well.
Thank you for visiting, take a look around and don't forget to schedule a session with me using the link on the contact page.
